CABLE AND CONDUIT ASSEMBLY, ELECTRICAL

Commercial Item Description
This description covers electrical cable and conduit assembly safety carrying non-permanent electric cables over indoor floors in areas of light foot traffic. It is not intended for permanent attachment to a building. The cable assembly shall be inserted into a sheath with a duplex receptacle.
Salient characteristics:
Cable Assembly:
Cable- two conductor with ground, cable types SP-2 or SPT-2, AWG size 16, Ampacity- 13amperes, 125 volts. The cable with plug shall extend a minimum of 2-feet from the end of the sheath.
Connector- 2 pole, 3 wire, parallel blade, grounding, right angle, male connector, NEMA configuration 5-15P, molded to the cable jacket. The 2-foot extension shall be measured to the face of the plug.
Sheath- the length shall be as specified including the electric outlet box. The side shall be tapered to a rounded apex. The sheath shall be a minimum 2.375 inches wide by a minimum 0.375 inch thick except at the box end shall be minimum 0.625.
Duplex receptacle- 2 pole, 3 wire parallel slot, NEMA configuration 5-15R shall be mounted in the outlet box.
Cover plate.
One outlet protector.
Length of sheath shall be as specified: Four, six, eight, ten, or twelve feet. The tolerance for the sheath shall be + 1 inch.
Color unless otherwise specified shall be black.
The complete cable assembly shall comply with the electrical, mechanical, and structural standards for special use extension cord sets of the UL Standard No. 817 and carry the UL listing mark.
The issue of UL Standard No. 817 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The items shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping container shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
